Jaynesh Gounder, the Managing Director of Agilis Chartered Accountants (Agilis CA) and a board member of the Kaiviti Silktails Rugby League Club, has showcased his strong support for rugby league and grassroots sports by sponsoring the thrilling Western Division Semi Final between the Namuaniwaqa Sea Eagles and the Burenitu Cowboys.
The exciting match at Churchill Park in Lautoka was held as the Agilis CA Cup, with Jaynesh generously covering transportation costs for both teams to ensure their participation.
The semi-final delivered an exhilarating showdown, culminating in the Sea Eagles emerging victorious, thereby securing their spot in the Western Grand Final. They will face the winner of the upcoming Ravororavo Rabbitohs vs Saru Dragons match next weekend at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
Jaynesh Gounder expressed that supporting the event is about fostering opportunities for players and nurturing community spirit:
“Rugby league holds a special place in my heart, and giving back to the sport is something I take pride in. Ensuring that both teams had transport and could play in front of a larger audience was vital for the players and their communities. These young men deserve every chance to shine.”
As part of his commitment, Jaynesh will be present at the Western Grand Final to officially award the Agilis CA Cup to the winning team.
This event also coincides with a historic moment as the Kaiviti Silktails prepare to host their last home game of the 2025 season against the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Churchill Park, Lautoka, on Saturday, August 31.
Kaiviti Silktails CEO Stephen Driscoll commended Jaynesh’s contribution:
“Jay is deeply passionate not only about the Silktails but also about giving back to his home province of Ra. He stepped up to ensure the match between the Sea Eagles and Cowboys could go ahead smoothly by covering all the transport costs, making this opportunity a reality.”
“The Silktails and the Sea Eagles are looking forward to having Jay in Fiji for the Silktails’ final home game against the Rabbitohs, where he will present the Agilis CA Cup to the Sea Eagles as they compete in the Grand Final against the winner of the Ravororavo Rabbitohs and Saru Dragons next weekend.”
Kaiviti Silktails Chairperson Petero Civoniceva added:
“Jaynesh’s support extends beyond his role as a board member. His personal investment in grassroots rugby league demonstrates his genuine commitment to nurturing the sport in Fiji. The Agilis CA Cup will not only inspire players but will also strengthen community ties and enhance pathways to professional rugby league.”
Through his dual leadership roles at Agilis CA and the Kaiviti Silktails, Jaynesh Gounder continues to blend business acumen with a passion for community development and sport.
