Silktails Head Coach Wes Naiqama spoke of how the Silktails have been preparing coming into the 2023 season, and what areas he wants to see improvement in.

“This week has been different from what we’ve been doing for the past six weeks in regards to some game planning. A lot of work has been done and the boys are ripping in the gym and a lot of effort on the field.” said Naiqama.

“Probably something we need to be better at is starting the game well, and we have set the goal that we want to be a very strong defensive unit because I feel we do have a lot of point in this.”

Local Western division clubs have been helping prepare the Silktails for their 2023 season, with the club last weekend taking on a combined Saru Dragons Rugby League Club and FNRL Fiji National Rugby League HPU Western squad, at Natabua High School.

The session was designed and delivered by the Kaiviti Silktails Head Coach and his Coaching and Performance Team, as part of the Silktails ‘Coach the Coaches’ initiative.

This initiative is designed to assist FNRL and Fiji Secondary School Rugby League-FSSRL Teams and Coaches with information sharing and creating like-minded practices at Grassroots and Community Football Level.
