The Kaiviti Silktails RLFC are excited to announce the 2023 signing of Emosi Daubitu.
Emosi caught the eye of Silktails and Roosters Coaching Staff at the Silktails Inaugural Rookie Camp after playing in the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Team.
“Emosi looked great in our 40m sprint test but wasn’t our fastest time. It was during our 9-a-side training games that he really impressed. His running mechanics are as good as I’ve seen which allows him to hold his top speed when in the clear. His speed caught the eye of Roosters Recruitment boss Daniel Anderson at our Rookie Camp, where he nicknamed him – The Flash.” said Silktails Executive Director, Stephen Driscoll.
“Being from Natasiri I shared this story with close friend and Fiji Heavyweight boxer Puna Rausabale, and he wanted to do something to support Emosi. Puna has taken a Silktails Player Partnership package with us to support Emosi during the 2023 season. Puna has done this through his Sydney based transport and removalist company, Mr Fiji Transport Australia. Puna is part of the Silktails family, but we are even more excited to have Puna’s company Mr Fiji Transport Aus be part of our ever growing sponsorship family” said Driscoll.
Puna will meet Emosi, and is joining the Silktails in camp next week in Lautoka to complete a Strength and Conditioning camp in preparation for his next heavyweight bout in Sydney in late Feb / early March.
Mr. Fiji Transport Australia owner, Puna Rausabale – current Professional Boxer and former Fiji Bati Player and Fiji Commonwealth Games Boxing Representative, spoke of how honoured he was to sponsor one of our players as he chases his Rugby League dreams and supports his family, as well as his excitement over partnering with the Silktails.
“It is a honor to be able to sponsor a young fellow Fijian who is striving to excel in his career of choice, so that he may provide for himself and his family. My parents migrated overseas to give my siblings and I an opportunity for a better life, and 36yrs later I have reaped the benefits of the sacrifice they made and am the proud owner of Mr Fiji Transport Aus Pty Ltd” said Rausabale.
“I named my company Mr Fiji Transport Australia in honour of my parents and fellow Fijians, who have also made the journey off our home shores in search of a better life. Our partnership with the Silktails club align with our morals and values as a company, which made this decision to be a sponsor all the more satisfying”
“I am looking forward to this partnership with the Silktails for us as a company, one we believe will only grow in the years to come.”
Silktails Head Coach Wes Naiqama also spoke about how impressed he was with Emosi’s playing ability, and how eager he was to help him develop.
“I’m excited about the signing of Emosi. He’s an extremely gifted athlete from Naitasiri, I first watched him play for the Fiji Schoolboys v Australian Schoolboys in September. He was a handful that day with his strong carries and aggressive defence” said Naiqama.
“He can play Centre and Wing. I look forward to assisting with his development over the next 12 months”
We are looking forward to seeing what you can do, in 2023.
