Silktail Signs With St Mary’s & Is Selected To Train With Penrith Panthers After Standout Year

2023 Kaiviti Silktails ‘Tabu Soro’ Medal Favourite and Fiji Bati Player Sirilo Lovokuro has signed with the 2023 Ron Massey Cup Premiers St Mary’s Saints for the 2024 season.

With the Kaiviti Silktails announcement to participate in the NSW Jersey Flegg Competition in 2024 – an under 21’s competition, Siri leaves the club as an over age player to join the powerhouse Penrith club with an opportunity to train with the Panthers as the clubs NSW Cup Feeder.

Club Executive Director Stephen Driscoll was excited for the former Cuvu College Student, who has been a standout for the past two seasons with the Silktails.

“Siri came to us through our EDP Program and had no Rugby League experience and it’s quite remarkable to see where he has got to now. He is a cousin of Maika Sivo so we knew there was good pedigree there when he arrived. He was a regular starter for the past two seasons, and last year made his debut for the Roosters Jersey Flegg squad and then was rewarded with two Fiji Bati Test Caps in PNG at the end of the season.”

With the Silktails moving into Jersey Flegg Cup next season, the club has been encouraged by the over age players being able to find opportunities elsewhere.

“I think more than ever with us moving into the Jersey Flegg competition we are seeing the strength of our footy program and the opportunities for our over age players to move abroad and continue on their sporting journeys beyond the Silktails.”

The Kaiviti Silktails would to thank Siri for his service to the club and wishes him all the best in his career.
