The Kaiviti Silktails Rugby League Football Club (RLFC) has officially announced a groundbreaking new partnership with Westpac Pacific, marking a major milestone for sports and community development in Fiji. Making headlines across major national broadcasters including Fiji One and FBC, the announcement crowns Westpac Fiji as the Official Banking Partner of the Silktails. As part of this significant sponsorship, the iconic Westpac branding will now be proudly displayed on the collars of the team’s match jerseys. The launch event, held at Albert Park in Suva, also coincided with a special unveiling of the new Westpac NSW Blues Adidas kit worn by 45 boys and girls, underscoring a deep commitment to elevating the sport throughout the region.
This partnership is designed to extend far beyond the parameters of the rugby league field, placing a massive emphasis on community engagement and life skills. A central pillar of the agreement is the introduction of vital financial literacy training for the Silktails players. Silktails Chairman and rugby league legend Petero Civoniceva emphasized the profound impact this will have, noting that the initiative will equip young athletes with essential money-management skills—a game-changer for many young players who have never previously owned a bank account.Additionally, the partnership will actively drive grass-roots youth outreach, specifically supporting the club’s “Catch Pass Program” in Fijian schools and sponsoring a monthly “Westpac Values Club Man Award” to reward outstanding character.
Club executives and Westpac leadership have both expressed immense pride in what this collaboration represents for the future of Fiji’s youth. Kaiviti Silktails CEO Stephen Driscoll highlighted how Westpac’s active role will fortify the club’s extensive community pathways, while Westpac Fiji Chief Executive Shane Smith praised the Silktails’ holistic approach to player development. Smith reiterated that sports hold a unique power to unite the Fijian community, and Westpac is incredibly proud to back a franchise that invests as heavily in local neighborhoods as it does in elite athletic talent. With shared values and a unified vision, this partnership sets a powerful new standard for athletic sponsorships across the Pacific.
