Kaiviti Silktails Sign Three Year Partnership with Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
The Kaiviti Silktails is pleased to announce a three-year partnership with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. The partnership will see an alignment with the Bulldogs and Silktails Football Programs for the next three seasons ending the clubs 4 year partnership with the Sydney Roosters.
Kaiviti Silktails Chairman, NRL Hall of Famer and former Fiji Bati Captain Petero Civoniceva says that despite the interest elsewhere, after meeting Bulldogs GM of Football Phil Gould a deal with the Bulldogs made sense for the Fijian based Rugby League club.
“Our club is so excited to be partnering with the Bulldogs and there were just so many reasons why this deal made sense for us. Watching the rise of their NRL team this year was something that won the hearts of all Rugby League fans. The rise of the NRL team has been built on what Phil Gould and Adam Hartigan have done with their Pathways Program and to align ourselves with a strong program was paramount for us.” said Civoniceva .
“Apart from our largest Fijian ex-pat community residing in the Canterbury-Bankstown District in Sydney, the Bulldogs have also been extremely active in Fiji over the past two seasons and our board were so impressed with how committed Gus and Adam were to Fiji when they met with our board two weeks ago.”
“I would like to take this time out to thank the Sydney Roosters for the last four years together in particular Daniel Anderson, Craig Walker and Dean Feeney who were at the front line with the partnership and we wish the Roosters all the very best in the future.”
Speaking from Suva in Fiji to promote the Silktails partnership with Petero Civoniceva, Bulldogs GM of Football Phil Gould had the following to say on the Silktails deal.
“Over the past two seasons the Bulldogs have increased our commitment to the game in Fiji particularly on the back of bringing Viliame Kikau to our club. Since then we have established ‘The Kikau Academy’ in Fiji and our Ron Massey Cup and Jersey Flegg teams have played in Fiji three times in the last twelve months to help promote this. Having the Kaiviti Silktails come on board officially as part of the Bulldogs Pathways Program is an extension of our commitment to Rugby League in Fiji and will compliment the programs we already have in place here. We look forward to helping the Kaiviti Silktails build capacity as a club and expand on their impressive Elite Development Pathways Program in Fiji.”
