The Kaiviti Silktails is pleased to announce a three-year partnership with the City of Gold Coast. The partnership secured under the City of Gold Coast’s Sports Attraction Program will see the Kaiviti Silktails begin its pre-season camp and trial matches in Australia’s most iconic tourist destination city in 2025, 2026 and 2027.
Kaiviti Silktails Chairman, NRL Hall of Famer, former QLD Origin Legend and Fiji Bati Captain Petero Civoniceva says the deal with the City of Gold Coast is a massive boost for the Fijian based Rugby League club.
“Our club is no stranger to the City of Gold Coast who have hosted us for our Sporting Camps in 2021, 2022 and 2024. With us now participating in the Jersey Flegg Competition pre-season matches against quality opposition is critical for us and being based on the Gold Coast for the next three pre-seasons gives us certainty to secure matches against quality opposition.” said Civoniceva .
“That along with providing our locally based players and staff from Fiji the experience of a lifetime on the Gold Coast to begin each season in my home state of Queensland is something I am extremely happy about. We just can’t thank the City of Gold Coast enough for this amazing opportunity that has been given to us.”
“The City is delighted to be welcoming the Silktails back to the Gold Coast for their high-performance camps over the coming three years, and hope the camps continue to provide a fantastic environment for their pre-season preparations. The team consistently engages with the Gold Coast community during their visits. We are proud to have forged a great relationship with their organisation, and that we can play a role in supporting them to succeed well into the future.”
– Mayor Tom Tate, City of Gold Coast
The Kaiviti Silktails will arrive on the Gold Coast on February 13 and will now begin securing 2 pre-season matches during this period with the Redcliffe Dolphins and Gold Coast Titans being discussed as potential opponents.
