Kaiviti Silktails Womens EDP Inductions

This week our Kaiviti Silktails RLFC Head Coach Wes Naiqama, Football Manager Jacquelin Shannon and Head of Women Linda Shannon launched the Kaiviti Silktails Womens Elite Development Pathway Program for all our 3 training hubs in the country; Centre of Excellence in Lautoka, Coral Coast and Suva.

The primary objective of this setup is to further enhance and develop our female athletes in the country as they strive for excellence both on and off the field, providing them with high performance training programmes, facilities, support network and coaching personnel. We are truly appreciative of the support rendered towards us from our key partner – PacificAusSports who are the backbone of all our football operations.

On the back of a strategic review, the significance and demand to introduce High Performance in Womens Rugby League was identified. Together with the vision of FNRL and their “KALAWA” initiative, our EDP coaches will assist the Women in their respective training centres as they prepare for upcoming 9s tournaments in preparation for FNRL’s plan to introduce a fully fledged XIII competition alongside the Men next season. This is imperative to building a stronger player pool depth for our Fiji Bulikula XIII and 9s teams who in the near future will be vying for a place in the Pacific Games, World 9s, Oceania Cup, Pacific Test matches and RLWC to name a few.

With our Mens team competing in the Ron Massey Cup, we are working towards building a competitive team for similar opportunities in the Land Down Under. The Dream is slowly turning to reality as the 25 players per training centre were inducted into our Womens program with their goals set to aspire to the highest of honours in the sport. We look forward to not only building champions on the field, but great leaders, mothers, sisters, daughters and wives and citizens of our beautiful country – Fiji
