KVT Silktails Unveil Five-Year Anniversary Logo: A Symbol of Growth, Resilience, and Vision

The KVT Silktails have reached an incredible milestone—five years of dedication, development, and overcoming adversity. As we step into the 2025 season, we take a moment to reflect on our journey and celebrate the evolution of our club with the unveiling of our five-year anniversary logo. Our Chairman Petero Civoniceva shares his thoughts on this momentous occasion, the team’s evolution, and the vision for the future.

A Proud Achievement Amidst Challenges

“To reach our 5-year milestone is a proud achievement. We look back on where we have come from, the success in becoming established in 2020, the challenges that we have endured—especially COVID and relocating to Australia for a whole year and losing our beloved team manager, Jacquie Shannon. It has well and truly tested our resolve! In saying that, to be here where we are now about to launch into the 2025 season, I couldn’t be more proud of our Board, staff, and players!”

The Evolution of the Silktails

Since its inception, the KVT Silktails have continuously adapted to better serve the young rugby league talents of Fiji.

“We were first established to compete in the open-age NSWRL Ron Massey Cup in 2020. It was a great competition for our local men to compete in, but in order for us to be a genuine pathway for local players towards an NRL opportunity, we needed to play in a younger age division. In 2024, the decision was made to play in the U/21 Jersey Flegg competition, creating more development opportunities to assist our young players in their development to hopefully progress to greater opportunities abroad.”

A Logo that Embodies Our Journey

Logos are more than just symbols; they represent identity and history. The new KVT Silktails five-year anniversary logo embodies the journey the club has taken since its launch.

“The Silktail was chosen for our team name and emblem for its unique link to our home of Fiji. Taking flight in 2020, we are still proudly on our journey in 2025 from our humble beginnings in Fiji to the rugby league fields of Australia.”

Key Milestones That Define Our Success

Through the years, the Silktails have not only excelled on the field but have also made a significant impact in the community.

“The establishment of our Silktails Community Youth program and the development of the Silktails EDP Gym network across Fiji are definite highlights. The Silktails Community Youth program was established in honour of our late Manager, Jacquie Shannon, whose silhouette proudly features in its logo. Our players work in the program following in her commitment to community, giving back, and making a positive difference to those in need.”

The impact of strong leadership has also played a crucial role in the team’s growth.

“The influence of our Silktails Executive Director, Stephen Driscoll, on the Silktails both on and off the field can never be overstated. His planning and establishment of our Silktails Elite Development Pathway gyms across Fiji have furthered our commitment to player skill, strength, and conditioning development.”

A Vision for the Next Five Years

As we celebrate our five-year milestone, we also set our sights on the future with ambitious plans for further growth and expansion.

“In the next five years, we will be working towards creating more development pathways into Australia via the NSWRL. To complement our U/21 Jersey Flegg team, we look to establish a Silktails U/17 Harold Matthews team and U/19 SG Ball team. We also have plans for a Silktails female team in the near future. This Silktails pathway combined will continue to greatly assist the growth and development of Rugby League in Fiji.”

The KVT Silktails have achieved so much in just five years, and with the support of our players, staff, fans, and community, the next five years promise to be even more exciting. Our five-year logo stands as a testament to our resilience, passion, and unwavering commitment to the future of rugby league in Fiji.
