The Kaiviti Silktails have continued their commitment to partnering with Fiji Secondary Schools and Tertiary Institutions around the country, this time with Natabua High School in Lautoka.
Natabua is one of the largest schools in the Pacific with over 1200 students, but it is the clubs connections with the school that makes this partnership unique.
“Silktails Board Member Jaynesh Gounder, our late General Manager Jacquie Shannon and Club Captain Sunia Naruma are all ex-students of Natabua” said Head Coach Wes Naiqama.
“I think Jacquie would be so happy knowing that we are training here at the school she loved so much.”
For Silktails Board Member and Agilis Chartered Accountants Managing Director Jaynesh Gounder, he described the Silktails training back at his school as “special”.
“As a student and a boarder of Natabua High School between 1993 – 1996 I have been able to learn so much through the unity of sports and inspired by the athletics, soccer, rugby and hockey teams. I thank Principal Sharma and his team in putting together this memorable partnership.”
Club Captain Sunia Naruma had the honour of presenting Principal Sharma with a signed Jersey at the school last Wednesday.
“The feeling of being back here is just overwhelming and it just brings back so many memories. To see Mr Rupeni Caucau a teacher who helped push me through school, in our gym last week with the Athletics team was such a wonderful moment. I’m so proud of being a part of that school and grateful for the opportunity to give back to them”
The Kaiviti Silktails in exchange for using the schools field are providing technical support for the Natabua Athletics Team including the design of a periodised Athletic Development Gym Program and use of the Silktails High Performance Gym in Lautoka.
