Komai Re-Signs With The Silktails

The Kaiviti Silktails are excited to announce the re-signing of Silktail #52 – Ponipate Komai, for the 2023 season.

Poni is from Suva, with the team at Agilis CA becoming his Official Player Partner.

Silktails Head Coach Wes Naiqama spoke of how keen he was to have Komai return.

“It is great to have Poni back on board for 2023. Last year he made his way from our Sydney Shield Roosters team, and forced his way into our RMC Squad and figured in the 18-man squad every week in the second half of the season.” said Naiqama.

“Poni has a nice pair of hands and a neat short kicking game, but it’s his toughness that you can’t coach and he is prepared to put his body where most halfbacks wont. Despite still being under the age of 21 next season, I’m really looking forward to him taking more control of this team in his second year.”

Upon his re-signing, Poni acknowledged how this his Player Partner sponsorship has the ability to change his life.

“Playing footy is always a dream and holds a special place in my life. In pursing this career, I would like to thank you, Agilis, for being so generous in sponsoring my rugby league career playing for the Kaiviti Silktails. It truly means so much to me” said Komai.

“With your sponsorship, it helped me to boost my performance, and it makes a difference in my life to continue chasing my dream no matter the challenges it takes, as I want to become a professional rugby league player in the future.”

Congratulations Poni!
