SILKTAILS IN THE COMMUNITY

Players and staff travel to regional and remote communities in Fiji, inspiring the young men and women through our Rugby League Program.

Giving Back To The Community

As part of the Kaiviti Silktails Community Youth Program, players and staff are actively involved in giving back to regional and remote communities across Fiji. Through these outreach efforts, the Silktails not only spread the message of our Rugby League Program but also inspire young men and women by showcasing the values of teamwork, discipline, and community service. Their visits to schools, aged care homes, and various community projects highlight the importance of contributing to society, making a positive impact, and leading by example.

School Visits

During school visits, the Silktails engage in hands-on projects that significantly improve the school’s facilities and environment. These activities include helping clean up school grounds, install goalposts, and grounds and garden maintenance. Beyond these, players and staff interact directly with students, sharing their experiences and motivating them to strive for success both in sports and academics. They also hold coaching clinics where the students can practice their Rugby League skills, and after the clinic, the Silktails donate the balls used to help with the schools sport resources.

Community & Volunteer Work

In addition to school visits, the Silktails are deeply involved in community and volunteer work. Our efforts range from helping clean sea walls to participating in clean-up operations that remove litter and maintain gardens, helping to preserve the natural beauty of local communities. These initiatives not only beautify the areas but also promote environmental awareness and a sense of shared responsibility. Each Christmas, the team visits the Lautoka Children’s Hospital, where they bring gifts and holiday cheer to the children in the ward, with players and staff taking the time to speak with the children.
